It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Wee Waa: the town clock is playing carols, the Lions Club tree is up and the Mardi Gras has been given the green light.

The Wee Waa and District Chamber of Commerce was delighted to announce the popular Christmas event will take place on Wednesday, December 15, starting at 6pm.

The shopping and entertainment evening will feature music by the Wee Waa Community Band and Jazz Junction, a hearty barbecue cooked up by Rotary members, the Lions Club’s chocolate wheel will be spinning and there’ll be a visit from the jolly man in red – Santa Claus.

The Chamber is encouraging everyone to shop locally and support the town’s beautiful businesses this festive season.

There’s also a stack of $200 shopping vouchers up for grabs.

Residents and businesses are being enticed to string their festive lights and deck the halls for the Chamber’s Christmas Lights Competition, and there are some very attractive cash prizes on offer.

The contest is being run in collaboration with the Lions Club and Randwick City Council, and judging will start on Monday, December 13 and finish on December 14.

There are three categories this silly season: best residential (previous winner), best residential, best decorated business Boolcarrol Rd and best decorated business.

It’s hoped the community will embrace the festive gathering, after COVID cancelled last year’s celebrations.

Anyone interested in registering for the Christmas Lights Competition or as a Christmas Mardi Gras stall holder should contact the Wee Waa Newsagency.
