Narrabri Shire Council is inviting participation from all shire residents as extensive consultation commences for the purpose of guiding the future strategic direction of council.

Posters with a QR code linking back to the Narrabri Shire Council Community Engagement site survey will be popping up across all shire towns and villages over the next week at council and community facilities such as libraries, playgrounds, parks and pools.

The site survey aims to gather valued feedback about what respondents like about council-owned public sites and facilities, and what they think could be improved.

This is only one of the many methods of engagement council officers have arranged with several opportunities scheduled to be undertaken between now and March 2022.

Council’s director planning, strategy and people, Andrew Brown said the 2022/2032 Community Strategic Plan will set the organisation’s strategic direction for the next 10 years.

“The Community Strategic Plan is the highest level of strategic planning undertaken by a council, with a ten-year plus timeframe,” he said.

“Following an election, council must review its Community Strategic Plan to set the Delivery Program for the next term.”

Mr Brown said council staff want to hear from the community in order to shape Narrabri Shire’s future direction.

“The involvement of the shire’s community is vital to ensuring that our goals are aligned with the community’s vision,” he said.

“We will be undertaking extensive community consultation across the shire to know your thoughts on council’s progress against the 2017/2027 Community Strategic Plan and, what we can do better in the future.

There will be a range of opportunities for the shire community to have a say as established by council’s current Community Engagement Strategy, including:

  • Christmas Pop Up Shop on December 10 and December 17, 2021 at 119 Maitland Street, Narrabri.
  • Public workshops across all shire townships (between January and March 2022).
  • Online site survey which can also be accessed with a QR code
  • At a market day in February 2022, March 2022 and April 2022.
  • Via mail or email.
