Narrabri Shire Council has formed a planning, strategy and people directorate.
Council says it will guide the future efficiency and direction of the organisation.
Director of planning, strategy and people, Andrew Brown, described the move as an exciting time for the Narrabri Shire and the North West region.
“The directorate is comprised of both fresh and familiar faces. We have taken a strategic approach to recruitment and are already seeing positive outcomes.”
The directorate is comprised of five teams: Corporate planning and risk, development, economic development, human resources and strategic planning.
Mr Brown said corporate and strategic planning will plan the shire’s and the organisation’s future direction while development and economic development will guide implementation.
“Development and government investment is at an all-time high and I look forward to leading such vibrant, qualified and experienced teams,” he said.
Mr Brown brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a background as a local government solicitor and knowledge of emergency management, human resources, corporate planning and regulatory compliance.
Council’s general manager Stewart Todd said the shire’s advancement during the next decade is a significant time for investment in the region.
“Narrabri Shire is well on its way to becoming a leading energy, transport, manufacturing and logistics hub,” he said.
“This new directorate will ensure that council facilitates and promotes government and private investment in the shire, while achieving the best outcomes for our community.”
